Phyllis C. Ratcliff-Buehler, the daughter of Louis and Elizabeth (De Wolf) Van Severen, was born February 13, 1923, in Ft. Morgan, CO. She attended high school in Omaha, NE and graduated in 1940. In 1944, Phyllis married Ray B. Ratcliff in Omaha, NE. Ray would precede her in death. Phyllis retired as a hospital food supervisor. On February 9, 1985, Phyllis married Ralph W. Buehler, Jr. in Red Oak, IA. She was a member of the Catholic Church. Phyllis died on Tuesday, September 9, 2014, at Heritage Manor in Newton, Iowa. She was 91 years old. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Ray Bryant; three brothers and one sister. Those left to honor Phyllis’ memory include her husband, Ralph, of Newton; her son, Ronald (Lucille) Ratcliff of Papillon, NE; her step children, Larry (Elizabeth) Buehler of Gymon, OK, Kay (Bob) Hepker of Center Point, IA, Randy (Vicki) Buehler of Des Moines, IA; her grandchildren, Rebecca, Suzanne and Katie; her step grandchildren, Deidre, Stacy, Jason, and Jeff; her great grandchildren, Tyler, Abby, Nicholas, Andrew, Luke, Gideon; her step great grandchildren, Soundra, Cole, Ryleigh, Bradley, Hank; her sister, Rose Corneer of Kearny, NE and many nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, September 12, 2014, at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Omaha, NE. Arrangements have been entrusted to Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton, Iowa.
