Marjorie N. Wessel, the daughter of Elton and Maude Jesse (Bailey) Jordan, was born January 11, 1925, in Newton, Iowa. She was a graduate of the Newton Senior High School with the Class of 1943. On June 20, 1943, Marjorie was united in marriage with E. Lloyd Wessel in Lancaster, Missouri. Marjorie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, picnicking, quilting, and cross stitching. She was active in her church, leading bible studies, teaching Sunday School and being a part of the Ladies Missionary Society. She was a charter member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Newton and was a member of the Skiff Hospital Auxiliary. Marjorie died on Sunday, November 1, 2015 at Skiff Medical Center in Newton. She was 90 years old. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, June Normandin and Evamae Bishop. Those left to honor Marjorie’s memory include her husband, E. Lloyd Wessel of Newton; her son, Dr. David (Margie) Wessel of Washington D.C.; her daughters, Lynda Wessel of West Des Moines, Iowa and Tari (Malcolm) Rowland of Rockford, Illinois; her seven grandchildren and one great grandson; and her brothers, Robert (Jan) Jordan of White Bear Lake, Minnesota and Don (Marcia) Jordan of Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held 10:30am, Friday, November 6, 2015 at Immanuel Baptist Church in Newton. The family will greet friends Thursday evening from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton. Memorials may be designated in Marjorie’s name to Immanuel Baptist Church or Skiff Hospice and may be left at the church or at Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home.
